We support the Young Hunters Program, which creates opportunity for youth in the community to learn about cultural values and ways of knowing (Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit) through skill development, hunting and land & sea-based activities. Participants work with knowledgeable and highly skilled Elders and staff to develop their knowledge and capacity to understand and interact respectfully within their environment and to live a good life according to Inuit beliefs/laws. The idea is to see many more young women take advantage of the program and to raise the profile of female harvesters in the community. That way families will be able to provide for themselves with the knowledge of how to respectfully and sustainably hunt and travel in the local environment.
